Good Shepherd of NoVA
The homeless population in Northern Virginia has seen a dramatic rise in the past several years. This is due in part to the high cost of housing, lack of sustainable job opportunities, and the unhoused are typically not in plain sight. Many individuals and families live temporarily with family members or friends, in cars or hotels, making them difficult to identify or help.
Good Shepherd believes that education and awareness, community outreach, and program development, are the tools needed to address this community need. We partner with existing social services organizations and charities to provide a variety of training programs that address individual and family needs. Our programs helps those in need to improve their physical and mental health, and provides opportunities for vocational training and employment. Hope of Life International
For 35 years, Hope of Life has been providing nutritional support through medical intervention for children at extreme risk of death caused by malnutrition. In 2020 alone, rates of malnutrition in Guatemala more than tripled, and our on-campus St Luke’s Nutritional Recovery center has been filled to overflowing with patients, forcing us to delay village visits or refer children to sub-standard area hospitals. Put simply: the need is exceeding our capacity to serve.
The mission of Hope of Life is, and always will be Saving Lives. At the very center of that mission is our Medical Intervention program (formerly referred to as the “Baby Rescue” program). Having worked closely with more than 308 villages for 35+ years, HOL has a far-reaching local network of healthcare workers and emergency responders who alert us when families experience nutritional crisis. Several times a week, our emergency medical teams travel to remote villages, often hiking the last portion of the journey on foot just to reach these mountain communities. Once the child and parent have been delivered to our Nutritional Recovery Center on campus, children receive treatment at no cost to their families.

Tree Of Life
Tree of Life is a nonprofit organization dedicated to forever changing the lives of the poor and needy in our LOCAL community. Instead of serving individual needs, we try and meet all the needs an individual or family may have, reaching across all five of our Branches to offer Food, Lifeskills, Shelter, Healthcare and Relief. Our objective is to extend a Hand Up and not a handout.

To request assistance, call 540-687-8771 between 9 am and 4 pm Mon-Fri
How it works: FISH volunteer telephone operators answer and qualify calls from individuals requesting assistance. The caller’s information is then sent to our FISH treasurer for review. The treasurer makes a determination if FISH can help and the level of help we can provide. This information is sent to the operator who then calls the individual with the details.
Guidelines: Middleburg FISH helps with rents, utilities, some medical costs, and medicine. Payments are made directly to the landlord or utility company, not to the individual caller. Because the nature of our financial help is temporary, callers are limited to receiving help once every six months. Annually, FISH helps approximately 150 families in our community.
